Amos Henry Hawley (1910- ), demographer and teacher at the University of Michigan for thirty years. In 1966, he moved to the Sociology Department of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from whcih he retired in 1976 as Kenan Professor of Sociology with specialization in demography.
